Privacy Policy

LocaleShots (“we”, “us”) is an independent service operated by a solo developer based in the Republic of Korea. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the service.

1. Information we collect

Account: your name, email address, and a password (stored only as a secure hash — we never see your plain password).
Waitlist: your email address, if you join the waitlist.
Content you provide: the caption text you submit for localization, screenshots you upload, and the localized results we generate for you.
Demo usage: to prevent abuse of the free demo we store a one-way hash (SHA-256) of your IP address and a daily counter. We do not store your raw IP address for the demo.
Cookies: an essential session cookie to keep you signed in. See “Cookies” below.

2. How we use your information

To provide the service — creating your account, saving projects, and generating localized captions and images.
To send the caption text you submit to our AI provider so it can be localized (see “AI processing”).
To operate, secure, and improve the service, and to prevent abuse.
To contact you about the service or, if you joined the waitlist, about launch.

3. AI processing of your captions

To localize your captions we send the caption text (and any app name or description you provide) to OpenAI via Cloudflare AI Gateway. We do not send your uploaded screenshot images to the AI provider. We instruct our provider to process the text solely to return a result and, per OpenAI’s API terms, it does not use API data to train its models.

4. Service providers we share data with

We use the following processors to run the service. We share only what is necessary for each to perform its function.

OpenAI (United States) — AI localization of caption text.
Cloudflare (global) — hosting, image storage (R2), and the AI Gateway that proxies our AI requests.
Neon (database, hosted on AWS, Singapore) — stores your account, projects, captions, and localization results.
Resend (United States) — sends email (waitlist and account-related messages), when enabled.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

5. International data transfers

Because our providers are located in the United States, Singapore, and other regions, your information is processed outside your country of residence. By using the service you consent to these transfers, which we rely on to provide the service you request.

6. Data retention

Account and project data: kept while your account is active, and deleted when you delete your account or request deletion.
Waitlist emails: kept until launch or until you ask to be removed.
Demo hashed IP + counter: reset daily.

7. Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete your information. Self-service account deletion is being added; until then, email us at jonghyeon2046@gmail.com and we will delete your account and associated data. Depending on your location you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or Korea’s PIPA, including the right to object to or restrict processing.

8. Security

Passwords are hashed, sessions are signed, images are served only to their owner, and access to your data is restricted to your account. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

9. Cookies

We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. We do not currently use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent.

10. Children

The service is not directed to children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

11. Changes

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
